Stand Up Paddle Boarding

Introduction

Fantastic activities – on the water and land

Following on from last year’s successful National Watersports Festival, Stand Up Paddle Boarding or SUP, is back and bigger than ever! As with last year, we will be set up in our own beach area with full access to the water. There will be lots of water activities as well as clinic sessions on land with experts, meaning there is something for everyone!

This year we are pleased to confirm that we are teaming up with GB SUP National Series who will be running a number of events for us over the weekend, namely 100m sprints and the main 10k distance race including Junior racing. Participation in these is open to all, whether you are a seasoned SUP racer or new to the sport.

The NWF SUP Team will also be running a number of Team/Club challenges involving Red Dragon, XL(mega) races and SUP Polo. These events will be spread over the weekend and don’t worry, if you are not part of a SUP Club you can still participate. Each team event will involve teams of 4 – these can be people from a SUP Club or a team of 4 who have come together for the weekend. If you are after adventure, then there will also be an instructor led adventure paddle both evenings.

For those looking at improving your skills, the team will be running a basic and race skills session as well as a number of land based clinics, looking at nutrition, avoiding sport injuries, boards 101 and Q&A with the brands. On top of this, on the Friday evening there will be Brand v Brand at SUP Polo a spectacle not to be missed – what more could you ask for!  For details regarding Clinics click here

Ticket entry for NWF 2018 will get you access to try demo equipment, take part in water based sessions and launching on your paddle board.

This event is for everyone and boasts lakeside camping and many other family activities even a bug zoo!

SUP CLUBS – We want you!

SUP clubs are the backbone of this sport in the UK and NWF wants to recognise this by providing information to new paddlers about local clubs. Details will be provided on a notice board and to make sure your club is listed please email you’re your club name, brief description and contact details to: fiona@nwfevents.co.uk.

For established SUP Clubs, why not use this as an opportunity to practice your team skills ahead of the British SUP Club Championships at the end of September. https://www.facebook.com/events/1481675608517083/

NEVER PADDLED BEFORE? NO PROBLEM.

We would like to encourage first time paddlers to the event as well, with FREE taster sessions (first come first served) on offer as part of the Rutland Festival. We know you will get bitten by the SUP bug and never look back. If you decide that want to go out on the water after your taster session that is not a problem! Day tickets will be available via the registration desk which will give you access to demo equipment as well as SUP events.

For further details around the format / schedule for the weekend, see our schedule page.
