Stand Up Paddle Boarding

New location, fantastic activities.

New location, fantastic activities.
With a new venue lined up the 2017 National Watersports Festival is set to be the best yet. This year the SUP element promises to deliver on all fronts with Rutland water as its location. Set in its own beached area with full access to the water, there will be plenty happening over the weekend of the 2nd to the 4th June.

As always, our focus is “something for everyone.” Activities will range from family friendly format to a 5k technical race as well as include team events like Red Dragon, Tug of War, SUP Polo and XL(Mega) races. The location also boasts lakeside camping and many other activities for a family weekend – even including a bug zoo!

The NWF team have set out a club based challenge where SUP clubs can take part in XL, Red Dragon, Tug of War, Land Paddling and SUP Polo and win points to see who will do the best on the day. For anyone who is a yoga enthusiast, we will be running some SUP yoga taster workshops too.

In addition to this taster sessions will be run through the weekend with everyone having the opportunity to take part. Add in the usual NWF magic and this promises to be one of the major SUP events of the year.

SUP CLUBS – We want you!

SUP clubs are the backbone of this sport in the UK and NWF wants to recognise this. With this in mind on the Saturday NWF will be putting on a club-friendly format where you can take part in a series of challenges against other clubs earning points. . Check out the Event format section for more information. We hope to see as many clubs as possible being represented at NWF this year.
If you are not part of a SUP Club, why not team up with 3 friends to form a team of 4 and take part in the club challenges.
For established SUP Clubs, why not use this as an opportunity to practice your team skills ahead of the British SUP Club Championships at the end of September.

We hope to encourage first time paddlers to the event as well. With taster lessons, SUP clinics and all the latest kit available which is all FREE, there is no better way to come and try SUP for the first time. We know you will get bitten by the SUP bug and never look back.

1,2,3 …. LETS RACE!

To satisfy more experienced paddlers who like to race, we will be running a 3k and 5k race on the Sunday. This will also be a good opportunity for beginner paddlers to take in a fun race, soaking up the atmosphere from the event. This will truly be a stunning location to race in this year, you really won’t be disappointed.

One of the best things about your paddle board is you can explore so many different places and types of water. This year we will be offering an adventure tour of Rutland water so you can have the opportunity to really take everything in at this amazing location.

Over the weekend, we are running several activities. To take part in anything, simply sign up when you arrive and we will allocate you a time slot for your chosen session. Activity information is listed below.

Camping on site

This is not a ready-made campsite.  So onsite facilities are very limited! There are public toilets, water point and a shower block is located 1 mile away. We would suggest bringing a bike. These reasons are why we implemented a discounted event entry  for 2017.

Individual Races

The gurus will tailor their clinics to what you want to learn.
