The Windsurfing aspect of the NWF can be broken down to: 20% Taster, 70% Intermediate & 10% Pro… that’s right, the NWF is the only event of its kind that puts the intermediate sailor at the heart of the event – we want to get YOU on the water and enjoying it!
The NWF festival will officially open at 12 midday on Friday although campers are welcome to arrive from 9am. Friday is very much known as trade day whereby the industry offers demo equipment and various clinics delivered by their team riders and coaches throughout the day. There will be various activities taking place but very much at a relaxed pace leaving you ready for the party which starts with DJs at 7:30pm and the band at 9pm.
Saturday & Sunday
There will be a series of ‘Master Blaster’ races suitable for ALL levels throughout the weekend. A simple format which see windsurfers sailing from the shore around a bouy and back to the beach. The fancy dress categories will be entertaining the crowds, as well as the pre-millenial equipment making a long awaited return!
The Pro clinics will be in full swing, teaching you new tricks and trips, as well as taster sessions on the water.
Around the festival the trade stands will be pumping and the children’s activities such zorbing grazy golf, rock climbing , cycling, aqua parks and a zoo and more will be available. As the sunsets, the on-water entertainment will take place with junior and pro racing teams, freestyle and the illuminated night windsurf. You can watch whilst relaxing as the DJ plays and the bar gets going! At 9pm the band takes centre stage and the legendary party starts.
The format couldn’t be more straightforward! All racers start together on the shoreline and then beach start as soon as the jet ski passes in front of them. continue reading
Yeh, that’s right, the NWF is just as much for Youths as it is the adults!
As well as the usual activities for Juniors, this year we are pleased to welcome the Royal Yachting Association Team 15 coaches. The RYA team will be running 6 Skills Clinics over the course of the weekend followed by Super Cross racing. Sign up for the clinics are on the day. The Coaching team will also be there to answer any questions you or your parents may have about how to improve your windsurfing and get more form the sport.
Saturday evening is where the best of the best put on their shows! Wind dependent we could have tow-in freestyle, night racing or SuperX. As always there will be the team relay race where a junior sailor can form a team with their chosen Pro sailor. We also hope to have a NWF Night Windsurf whereby sailors have the opportunity to go through a knock out process through Saturday in order to secure their place in the night windsurf under the flood lights and illuminated in glow-sticks! Whatever the wind, Saturday night will be a night to remember. With the bar open and the DJ on the decks, what could be better than chilling out on the beach watching all the action?
There will be various clinics throughout the 3 days to assist your progression in this fantastic sport covering all aspects of windsurfing by Colin ‘Whippy’ Dixon, Sam Ross, Ant Jim Collis, Simon Bornhoft.
The Pros will be on hand to answer your questions and queries. They will tailor their clinics to fit with the demands of the audience! continue reading
