Pleased to welcome James Dinsmore the current British Slalom Champion and regular PWA racer as the latest NWF rider and James was quoted to say:
I am lucky to have taken part in some of the worlds great windsurfing events including the Defi Wind in the south of France, the Lancelin Ocean Classic in Western Australia, and PWA World Tour events in Europe and the Caribbean. Whilst Hayling Island is not as exotic as many of those locations, in my book the NWF is right up there as one of windsurfing and watersports’ premium events.
Since its conception the event has consistently delivered the goods be it wind, rain or shine. I was just getting into racing when the NWF first started and I have great memories of the thrill of sailing amongst a big fleet for the first time. The 2007 event was one of my favourites and I remember Guy Cribb just piping me to the National fleet prize after we had duelled closely all weekend.
Even when it isn’t expected to be windy I get excited driving onto the event site at the start of a NWF weekend. It is because it is the chance to spend quality time amongst the rest of the watersports community, see and try the latest gear, and get inspired sailing and paddling with the big names from our sports.
Having become a resident of Hayling Island in recent years I am proud that the event happens on my home beach and give my support to Allan’s efforts to continue to deliver the NWF for the next generation of watersports enthusiasts.
